Battlefield 2042 is approaching day after day as there is not much left to be released on various major platforms, although the open beta did not, please everyone, the community of players is still eager to experience the final version and its different modes, including Hazard Zone, which was revealed by EA today.
Through a new video that you can watch above and through the official website, we got many details about the Hazard Zone mode. In the beginning, you’ll be in a squad of four and you and your squad must locate and recover the critical data engines scattered across the battlefield — of course, this won’t be an easy task as in the process you’ll be fighting opposing teams and occupying forces with the same goal. Successfully collecting data engines and choosing when to capture them before the storm hits the area is a high-risk experiment. Every bullet, every clash, and every decision counts according to the developers.
The Hazard Zone mode that will be present when Battlefield 2042 is launched is divided into four main sections:
- Strategize and Equip: First you’ll pick a specialist, weapons, equipment, and tactical upgrades before you set out on the battlefield to get you and your squad ready.
- Entry: You’ve selected your specialists, weapons, equipment and upgrades, now it’s time for your squad to spread across all 7 Battlefield 2042 maps, here you’ll test your skill and aptitude.
- Recovery: You and your squad step in with one task, which is to secure the capsules and recover the data drives contained within. Beware of hostile teams with the same objective and occupying forces that will protect the contents with their lives.
- Evacuation: Recovering data drives is difficult, and holding onto them long enough to be able to evacuate is even more difficult. There are two Evacuation windows available per match at random locations, it will take all your skills, tactical planning, and maybe a little luck to make it out alive.
You will surely reap the rewards of your labor if you manage to evacuate and escape with the data engines. According to the developer, the more intelligence you gather, the more experience points and dark market credits you earn. The latter means better equipment for you and your squad for the next match.
Within Hazard Zone mode there will be two additional mechanisms:
- Links: Give your squad an edge in battle with the map-distributed and collectible Links and Notebooks that can be used whenever you need some extra support. Three types of links will be available upon release: Vehicles, Rangers, and Reinforcement Links.
- Reinforcement Links: Specific links can bring back injured squadmates. These reinforcement links can be collected and used at any time, just deploy from your tablet to connect and wait for the timer to count down, then all your wounded squadmates will parachute into the fight.
That’s not all we know about the new Battlefield 2042 mode! On Xbox Series, PC, and PlayStation 5, each match will consist of 32 players, but on the new generation, the number will be reduced to 24.
Based on all this information, we can say that Hazard Zone mode is full of challenges and requires more planning and tactics than other modes, especially the occupation that we played in the open beta. We play the Battlefield series for the madness of a war movie but this style sounds really interesting and reminds me a bit of Escape from Tarkov, which is interesting!
